Australia, the sixth largest country and the smallest continent of the world, boasts of a natural beauty, whose diversity is endless.   • Exact location: Australia is located between Indian Ocean and South Pacific Ocean.
  • Area: The country has a total area of 7,686,850 sq. km. with a land surface of about 7,617,930 sq. km. The coastline has a length of about 25,760 km.
  • Landscape: The landscape varies from endless sun baked horizons to chilly southern beaches to the thick tropical rain forests. However, the low plateaus with deserts dominate the geographical scenario. The lowest point is lake Eyre (-15 meter) whereas the highest point is mount Kosciuszko (2,229meter).
  • Climate: The type of climate generally varies from arid to semi arid. In the south and east, it is temperate whereas in the north, it is tropical. Regular, tropical sea breeze, known as the Doctor occurs along the west coast in the summer.
  • eFlora: Australia supports 25,000 species of plants.
  • Natural resources: There is a huge reserve of gold in Kalgoorlie of Western Australia. Apart from that there are reserves of iron, silver, diamonds, petroleum, natural gas, copper, bauxite, etc.

  • People: Mostly Caucasians. However there are Asians (7%) and aboriginals (1%) too.

  • Agriculture: The main agricultural products are wheat, barley, sugarcane and fruits

  • Government: Independent member of the Commonwealth of Nations.
