Buddha Phnom Sampeau

Angkor: Angkor the 'Great City', and former capital of ancient Khmer Empire with its many temple complex portray a spectacular picture of religious Hindus. It comprises not only temples like Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom but Roluos and hundreds of other magnificent temples. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, which existed for Seven Centuries before being abandoned in 1431. Although the former glory do not exist yet it remains a manifestation of mystic beauty and many artistic sculptured temples. The decorated gates of Bayon and The Prohm, the two most beautiful temples are recommended for every tourist.

Phnom-penh: The 'Capital City' of Cambodia resides on the confluence of the three rivers, the Mekong, the Tonle Sap and Bassac. Just a few paces away from Tonle Sap lies the Royal Palace. The Palace itself has several other buildings like 'The Throne Room' used for coronation of kings and other regal ceremonies, 'The Napoleon Pavilion' and the magnificent 'Silver Pagoda'. One should visit these places specially the 'Silver Pagoda' and watch the awe-inspiring emerald Buddha and other life size Buddha statues made of solid gold, studded with precious gems including a huge diamond. Other miniature Buddha figures of gold and silver also throng the place. Scenes from the Khmer version of the great Hindu epic of 'Ramayana' are painted on the palace walls. The National Museum, built of red bricks, contains Khmer sculptures and frescos depicting scenes from Pre-Angkor and Post-Angkor periods. The Markets of Phnom Penh should also remain high on tourist agenda. You will get gold and silver jewellery, food, fabrics, antique coins, exquisite paintings and clothing too. One should also check out the first pagoda, called Wat Phnom, containing four statues of Buddha.

Ratnakiri: The province of Ratnakiri is just a few kilometers away from Phnom Pehn. This place is famous for its natural pristine beauty. The slumbering hamlets atop a plateau are truly charming with its undulating mountains, blue delectable hills, crystal clear lakes and lowlands. The lush greenery crowded with densely canopied impenetrable wildlife rich jungles offers wonderful opportunities for Eco-tourism.

Sihanoukville: Sihanoukville is Cambodia's only port and an upcoming beach resort. It is dotted by three beaches and promises you great fun through snorkelling, scuba diving, swimming and sun bathing. One can also go for boat trips to nearby islands in the sparkling waters and watch the fish's fishy antics all the way.

Battambang: An exquisitely painted scenery-Battambang, the second largest city of Cambodia, is just 181 kilometers from Phnom Penh. Like Ratnakiri, even Battambang exudes a charm unrivalled by any other place in Cambodia. The city enveloped in a haze of green and gold countryside, provides you with visiting sites like a museum, cluster of French shops to check out antique goods and a beautiful Hindu temple built from Angkorian ruin Ek Phnom. The emerald green exquisite countryside that you will witness in midst of these places, will provide a real feast to your eyes.

Tuol Sleng museum: It provides you a depressing scene as the museum portrays the torture experienced by the children during the Khmer Rouge. The prosaic ordinariness, the plain school buildings, the rusted beds and the damp walls containing instruments of torture are to be seen.
