Hong Kong Tourist Guides Environment Hong Kong is influenced by an irregular airstream.s directions so as to shape the nature of the locale. The flora and fauna has been affected over the years due to shifting sea levels and also the climatic variations of the place. The locale has blossoming foliage emitting freshness to both water and air quality. With temperatures soaring up to 95 degree F / 35 degree C in the summers and moisture close to 100%, Hong Kong is a city with subtropical ambiance. The locale deals with extremes of the nature. May-September is the time for heavy deluge. So, if you are planning to visit at this part of the year, you might prefer to change your campaign. Your plans may get a further set back when you come to know that in May-October Hong Kong is assaulted by severe hurricanes. There are signals for warning, for those of you who get out to the sea. Hence, keep a watch over the signals that are forecast in the television, radio or even hotels (the whirlwind often scale up to 8 out of 10 as the total range). The temperature begins descending to almost 60 degree F/ 20 degree C from October onwards. December to February is the months to chill out! If you are still confused about when to make your trip, October to November might be the ideal time for you! Deep Bay, such as Pak Nai and Tsim Bei Tsui are some of the well-known mangrove habitats of Hong Kong. Fresh water of the rivers like Pearl River and Three Fathoms Cove control the salinity of these mangroves. The plants, which you can find here, are called Mangrove trees. The organisms living here are very acquiescent in nature because living under these conditions is no ordinary joke. A specialty in the fauna world of the region is the water monitor or Varanus salvator. It is a lizard with dimensions of two or three meters and a rare species (primarily accredited as Varanus bengalensis) was found in 1930. Its origin though remains an unsolved mystery. Wetlands are the havens for dragonflies, mudskippers, shrimps, fish, fiddler crabs, periwinkles and frogs. Mai Po marshes as well as Tsim Bei Tsui and Luk Keng in the New Territories are the sanctuary for birds. Birds from northern Asia (as Siberia and northeast China) voyage to warmer places in the south, and consequently in the winter you might become a witness to all these immigrants with wings flocking at one place. While they woo one another by flaunting their frolics, you can sit back and be in awe of their enchanting plumage.
