Lowland wild plant, Lantana, a popular ornamental hedge flowers is seen on the roadside. Staghorn Fern, an epiphytic fern looks very attractive with the horn like leaves. Endless rare species of fauna includes Sun Bear, Monitor Lizard, Orangutan, Sumatran Rhinoceros, Clouded Leopard, Malaysian Tiger, elephants, tapirs, and gibbons. The tropical climate and diversified ecology lures the birds to take shelter in Malaysian greenery. Mangrove trees at the seafront protect the dry land from the encroachment by the sea and are the breeding ground for the prawns and fishes. Malaysian forest is older than the equatorial Amazon and Congo forests. For more than ten thousand years it was home for the nomadic people. The preserved greenery that covers nearly 70% of the land contributes in balancing the ecology. They are concerned in preserving the natural beauty and clean environment and hence take precautionary measure for pollution control. More than 60% of the country comes under rainforest. Endau Rompin, a beautiful tropical rain forest grows here. Sepilok Sabah rain forest is the home for Orangutan, Sarawak tropical rain forest in Cameron Highland is famous for beautiful flowers, fruits, vegetable and tea garden, Rantau Abang is famous for turtle. In Sibu Island, Rawa Island, Tioman Island and Langkawi Island beautiful and pure corals are preserved.
