Nepal has attracted tourists from all over the world, mainly because the country offers a vast array of attractions including breath-taking scenic beauty, religious sights, historical spots and evergreen tropical forests. Surrounded by the Himalayas, Nepal boasts of having some of the highest peaks in the world.

Scenic Pleasures
Some of the most scenic places are Kakani, Dhulikhel, Helambu, Tansen, Hile, Daman and Pokhra valley. The alpine scenery in Kakani and the snowy ranges of Karyolong on top of the Dhulikhel are sights one cannot miss. Helambu, which is, situated 72km northwest of Kathmandu is known for its picturesque landscapes. Pokhara valley, 200 kms from the capital, is known for its lush green meadows. Daman lies in the Tribhuvan highway from where the grandeur of the world.s highest peaks can be enjoyed. In fact from Hile, which is situated 13 kms from Dhankuta Bazaar you can witness the snow-capped Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu and Mt. Kumbhakarna. A visit to Nagarkot, which is a sleepy hamlet, will leave you spellbound with the breathtaking view of the mighty Mt. Everest towering to height of 8848 meters above sea level.

Religious Trail
Nepal is dotted with some of the ancient temples and stupas in the world and is regarded as the seat for learning Buddhism. There is too much for the interested archaeologist and the strong believer. The most regarded is the Hindu temple region of Pashupatinath. It contains numerous ancient temples and draws pilgrims from all over the region. The birthplace of the Gautam Buddha, Lumbini, is situated 250 kms from Katmandu. The images of the Buddha.s mother Maya Devi, the broken pillars from the time of King Ashoka, the dilapidated Buddhist monasteries have been well preserved by the Government. Other attractions would include several Hindu temples in Janakpur, which is the birthplace of lord Ram.s wife Janaki, better known as Sita. Barahachetra, which is the meeting point of the two rivers Kokaha and Saptakoshi. Panauti and Palanchowk Bhagavati also offer a multitude of Hindu temples. The Manakamana Temple is always a worthy visit for the Hindu pilgrim.

Around Kathmandu
The capital city of Kathmandu presents the best in architecture and splendor. This city is truly the melting pot of traditional culture and modern lifestyle. More than a dozen of temples, monuments and shrines can be found within a square mile. Among the most impressive structures are the old Royal Palace, the Taleju Temple, Durbar Square and the Kumari Bahal (Temple of the Living Goddess). A 20 minutes taxi ride from the main city will get you to the Buddhist Swayambhunath Temple and The Nepal Natural History Museum. Some of the other major attractions all within 30 minutes taxi ride from Kathmandu will include a visit to Bhaktapur, famous for the five-story Nyatapola Temple, which has large stone animal figures bordering its staircase and an art gallery at the Royal Palace.

Jungle Trail
Located in the southern lowlands (called the Terai) is the Royal Chitwan National Park. It is a different world with lush green vegetation and a humid climate. It's home to tigers, crocodiles, deer, monkeys, boar, leopard, rhinos and more than 400 species of birds. Other than that there is the Rapti valley, which is known for its animal safari and river rafting and trekking.
