Nepal Tourist Guides Environment Seated amidst the southern Himalayas, Nepal boasts of a pleasant, temperate environment throughout the year. It also cherishes the guardianship of the four major Mountain Ranges, the Chure Hills, the Mahabharat Range, the Himalayas and the Tibetan Marginals. The temperate evergreen forests mainly have oak and pine and stretches to an altitude of about 2400m. The wild life in this region consists of the barking deer, the Himalayan bear and the wild boar. Above the temperate zone is the cold Alpine zone which stretches to a height of about 4200m.The vegetation here is similar to what is found in the Tundra region with short grasses and Alpine plants. The wild yak, Himalayan marmot and the musk deer are some of the animals that are found here. Below the temperate forests there is also a belt of a sub-tropical evergreen forest in the outer wall of the Himalayas. The Narayani and the Sapta Koshi rivers flowing past the Terai region feed the evergreen forests. Here a variety of oaks and rhododendrons are noticed. However animals are not found in so much abundance as it is found in other regions. The marshlands in Nepal are under the Tropical deciduous monsoon forests. They occupy the region of the flat lands and the low valleys or Duns in the Terai region. The major trees that are found in this region are the Sal, Semal and the Asna, which sometimes reach to a height of about 180ft. Flowers like jasmine and mimosa are also found here. This region is evidently the natural habitat of a large number of animals. There are 4 species of deer, wild buffaloes, rhinoceroses, gaurs, tigers and red pandas. The Gangetic dolphins and crocodiles inhabit the water. Birds like peacock, Jungle partridges and migratory ducks are also noticed.
