The South Korean peninsula is near the easternmost part of Asia. It lies in the temperate region. At the same time it also falls in the East Asia Monsoon Region. The country enjoys four distinct seasons but because of its location in the higher latitudes it experiences a winter that is long, cold and dry, while summer is short, hot and humid. Frequent and unpredictable rainfall occurs during the spring and this is generally accompanied by gusty wind. Korea is resplendent in beauty in summer. Azure sky, brilliant wild flowers and a weather tailor made to go around places make Korea a favorite tourist destination. South Korea boasts of one of the few responsible nations that strive to reduce pollution in an effort to make this world more beautiful. With a pact with its neighbors South Korea has made it clear that it is committed to protecting the oceans and environment against pollution. Charity begins at home and South Korea has pledged to bring down carbon emission level by about 3% per year till 2020 and encourage the consumption of environment friendly energy like electricity. A lot of emphasis is being laid to develop the infrastructure in order to produce green energy like photovoltaic power and fuel cells. The government is also trying to reduce the over dependence on petroleum by encouraging the import of liquefied natural gas. Peace and harmony:
The politics of South Korea has been far from stable. Ideological division with North Korea has only given South Korea a hostile northern neighbor. History is proof of the fact that the expansionist designs of China and Japan are purged on Korea. But today the scenario is completely different. An economically strong South Korea is safe from foreign aggression. National parks, Game Sanctuaries and beautiful forests have made this country so different from other parts of the world.
