Thailand Tourist Guides Culture The cultural life of Thailand does not lag behind. Tourists all over Asia visiting Thailand are enthralled by the cultural activities. One of the most famous cultural show includes Khon. It transports everyone conveniently to the world of Elizabethan Age with its masked performances in drama. It originated in the regal court of Siam, but is originally an enhanced extension of folk countryside dances. Like delicate ball parties of 18th century England, this show includes men and women dancing in a quadrille. Men wear masks and women wear headdresses; they are adorned with dazzling jewelry. While music beats rhythmically with dance, off-stage chorus says the songs and dialogues. Another cultural show comprises the shadow puppet plays. The puppets crafted from animal hides have strings attached which leads to their easy portability. The puppets are cutely made to respond to the music and witty dialogues. The traditional Thai music shows are most popular ones in whole Southeast-Asia for the melodies flow from the harmonious blending of Chinese, Khmer and Indian origins. Likely, another cultural art form originates from Muslim devotional activities. Previously it was adopted as a comedy folk art with farcical singing and dancing and artists adding unnecessary political jibes in it, and so it suffered a setback. But today it has achieved great fame and worldwide recognition. Thai food is a delicious mouth-watering cuisine for it adopts Chinese and Indian dishes, blends it into a further spicy mix, and produces a dish, unparallel in the whole cuisine world. Certain popular restaurants also provide Asian, European and oriental cuisine too. While American and English dishes dominate breakfast, the bland walk-in-coffee parlors offer European dishes. Tourists visiting Thailand can conveniently tuck themselves into cozy snack bars, ice-cream parlors, coffee cafes, cuisine restaurants and western fast food chains. Art in Thailand flourishes vividly. Thai kings have bathed the art and culture with brilliancy of cities like Sukthothai, Chiang Saen, Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, and Lopburi. The magnificent Golden Triangle, the antique museums the beautiful temples in stones, woods, stucco abundantly studded with jeweled idols of gods and goddesses, attract every eye. The world of art breathes out aestheticism as Thai craftsman successfully craft wooden carvings, delicate handworks, silk, leather puppets, fine gold and silver jeweler, pottery, embroidery and other innumerable forms. Adept stroke of hands paint the walls ornately with scenes from the life of Buddha and other famous personalities. In fact perfection of Thai art keeps you vibrant all the time.
