Library ruins Ephesus

Geographically, Turkey forms a natural bridge between the continents of Middle East and Europe, where Anatolian peninsula forms the westernmost part of Asia and Thrace lies in the continent of Europe.

Turkey has a hilly topography with half of its land rising more than 1000 meters and two-third higher than 800 meters. Turkey is surrounded by four seas . Black, Aegean, Marmara and Mediterranean and is crisscrossed by numerous rivers like . Sakarya, Coruh, Firtina, Totum, Kocacay, etc.
Basically, mountains, rolling steppe, meandering rivers, rich agricultural valleys and a 8400km coastline . all of these have joined hands together, to give shape to Turkey.s topography.

Turkey.s diverse regions have diverse climatic conditions . cool, rainy winters and hot, moderately dry summers in the coastal areas, continental climate with distinct seasons in the inland and extreme climate in the Anatolian plateau.

Because of its geographical location and varied climatic conditions, Turkey is gifted with a treasure chest of flora and fauna. Over 9000 plant species are found in the country with every third one being a native like Lily, Tulip, Apricot, Cherry and so on.

In case of fauna, Turkey is even richer, with an unbelievable number of over 80000 species. Some of Turkey's fauna include the pheasant, the fallow deer, jackals, lynx, the bald ibis (a threatened species), wild boars, the Kangal Dog, the Van cat (which has one blue and one green eye), rare leopards and Caretta sea turtles. The four seas of Turkey abound with innumerable varieties of fishes and other sea creatures. The country is also a bird watchers paradise, being located on the migration paths of many of them.
