Except between the month of May and September, rainfall is highly unpredictable and infrequent. This is due to the country being mountainous in the northwest and the presence of central highlands facing the South China Sea, where annual rainfall is higher. The coastal and the central highland areas receive heavy rainfall from the month of September to January. Temperature
The temperature varies from place to place. In the southern and central Vietnam it is on the higher side where as in the northern region it is much cooler, having to endure the cold air directly from neighbor China. But the uniqueness of the weather condition of Vietnam is, due to the presence of both tropical and temperate zones. So if one place experiences sunny climate the other would endure cold weather. South Vietnam has one two seasons, Monsoon, from May-October and winter season from November-April but North Vietnam has the usual four seasons, spring, January-March, summer, April-June, autumn, July-September and dry, October-December. Flora and Fauna
Awareness to save environment is high among the Vietnamese. The subtropical climate with abundance of water has made Vietnam the land for many trees and wild life. Wild animals like, water buffalo, crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, wild boars, tigers, panthers, innumerable fish, birds and insects are found in the beautiful tropical forests of Vietnam. Domestic animals are common though, like cattle, pigs, chicken, ducks and dogs. In the jungles both ugly and beautiful trees and plants can be found along with vines, ferns and mosses. Crops
Cash crops like rice, vegetables, sugar cane, rubber trees, tea and coffee plantations, fruit bearing trees are cultivated. Topography
Topographically, Vietnam is a museum of towering mountains, beautiful beaches and waterfalls, deltas, and tropical forests being home to countless animals and plants. In the north there are alpine peaks, the Red River Delta; the plains consists of Cao Bang and Vinh Yen, the city of Hanoi and the charming Halong Bay. The Central Vietnam hosts ethnic minorities, along with plateaus full of volcanic soil and breath taking beaches and backwaters. The south's tourist attraction would be Ho Chi Minh City, delta of Mekong River. Many hidden islands and coastal forests are also there.
